Why do I need a script consultant?
Even the most seasoned professionals need feedback on their works-in-progress. If you already have a manager or agent to give you feedback, an independent script consultant can provide unbiased input into your script’s strengths and weaknesses. If you do not have a team behind you, script consultation is invaluable.
A full-length screenplay can take months to research, write and refine, yet readers for agencies, producers and studios pass on nearly 95% of all screenplay submissions. While there are no guarantees, having professional input on your script is your best defense against an immediate rejection.
Is this “coverage”?
No. Coverage generally consists of a two-page synopsis of your script, followed by a one-page analysis. Script consultation is much more in depth. You will receive a detailed report covering character arcs, plot and pacing, with a strong focus on the general marketability of the work. Like coverage, every evaluation includes a grid rating the major components: premise, characterization, plotline and dialogue (rated as poor, fair, good or excellent).
